Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students from Texas come to my class for dyslexia and reading interventions. They are brilliant and are eager to learn! Many of them are artistic. They come to work on their writing and reading skills. Many of them are dyslexic or they simply just need a little extra help to reach their reading goals. Most of them come from low, socioeconomic families. I am working with them to re-train their brains to learn to read in a multi-sensory way.
My Project
These writing instruments will help my struggling students rediscover the awesomeness of writing. My dyslexic students are learning cursive, so I will allow them to use the erasable Frixion pens in place of a regular pencil. These will be a great motivator to help them want to practice their penmanship. The felt tip pens will be used when they are publishing their work. My students will use the fine tip Expo markers when practicing their coding of words and penmanship on dry erase surfaces I have around the room. Dry erase cuts my paper and copy costs. My goal to build students up who can read and write effectively before reaching 2nd grade. The fine tip is important for my students because that will be one less thing for them to worry about since many of them are already struggling with correct pencil grip and placement.
