Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Every morning I greet my Spanish speaking students with a smile. My classroom is my "happy place" and a safe haven for many of my students living in poverty. It's where I can make a difference in the life of an urban child. It's where my students make a difference in my world, too.
"Aprendemos Juntos" means that we learn together.
It is my aim to build a classroom environment that supports, engages, and motivates my second graders. With no classroom budget, we do without many of the supplies and materials commonly found in other classrooms in nearby districts. With the help of Donors Choose I am excited to be able to provide a higher quality educational experience for each and every one of my newcomer students.
Thank you for helping me create a print rich environment.
My Project
My emergent readers are developing a love of reading. Their appetites for reading quality literature are growing with each Readers Workshop session. Keeping up with their reading stamina is challenging. They need books!
I need to organize our class library so that my students can
easily fill their "browser bags" with "just right books". Each week we exchange what's in our bags for something new. Keeping up with the demand of books for students with different reading abilities and interests is daunting.
These book bins with leveled texts will help me to begin to "create a classroom within a library" for my students.
