Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The children I work with are very active and are constantly investigating the world around them. Finding ways for them to learn through exploration and art is my main goal this school year. My school is located within the largest district in Oklahoma City. I work with an amazing group of teachers who have a passion for helping this community through the arts.
I want my First grade students to come home from school every day, proud of what they have learned and eager to share with their families.
I am excited to start teaching my students through Arts Integration.
My Project
My students love to make classroom books! We make them to learn about each other, as an extension of a book we’ve read, or as a way to remember a fun thing we’ve done! We also make books to develop our writing skills during writers workshop. Students will be able to take home their work or add it to our classroom library to be read over and over again.
Art, whatever form it takes, requires hard work, craftsmanship and creativity.
With a book binding machine, cardstock, paper and spines, I will be able to give our books more durability so that they may appreciate their work throughout their education.
