Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Latinos in Action is a class that focuses on using cultural assets to better ourselves and our community through academic excellence, community service, and tutoring elementary students to develop a love of reading in the younger generation.
My Latinos in Action students thoroughly enjoy watching their reading buddies grow, being involved in the progress they have made throughout the year, and the relationships they have built.
We tutor Kindergarten students at a local elementary. My students bring their own books so that their buddies are not limited to their own classroom library and can always have access to new and exciting books. The LIA students get to know their buddies and can tailor the books they choose based on their buddies' interests.
I am creating this DonorsChoose project to build a classroom library so that my students have more access to children's books that they can share with their reading buddies each week. Thank you for helping my amazing students make the world a better place through reading.
