Destressing Our Classroom

Help me give my students destressing materials such as lights and journals needed to manage their social well-being.

My Students

My students are incredible. I get the opportunity to teach these students a second time! I taught them in third, and now I will be teaching them in sixth! This group is hard-working, creative, and has a genuine love of learning. They like to be challenged and taught in a multitude of ways.

Knowing already this group, I know what motivates them and their interests.

I would love to be able to provide new learning opportunities and experiences for them. I also want to make this last year of elementary school memorable!

My Project

My students live in rural PA where resources are scarce. Due to daily life and the national pandemic, my students are facing anxiety and stress in their daily life. A lot of these students do not have an outlet to destress and they need to feel safe and relaxed while at school.

I would like to create a safe zone in the classroom.

My goal is to have a calming space with soft lighting and a beanbag chair where students can relax. I also would like each student to have a calming strip to self-soothe, in addition to other soothing items.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
