I need a ticket to attend the Happy Go Teach conference in Raleigh, NC this October 19th-20th, 2018.

My Students

My school is in close proximity to a military-base and we have some military students. We are in an impoverished community and are a Title I school. We have 100% of our population receiving free and reduced price breakfast and lunch.

I am currently a 2nd Grade Teacher to a wonderful group of students. I am so fortunate to be able to call them my class.

My Project

I am requesting funds to attend a conference on reading instruction. The Happy Go Teach conference will benefit me both professionally and personally. I will grow professionally because I will be taught by highly esteemed professionals of the trade. Jen Jones is a 22 year veteran that has served as a reading specialist and an RTI coordinator. Ms. Jones is just one of the main speakers. She will teach on small group instruction, specifically Guided Reading instruction. Learning from a reading specialist will help ensure I give my students the best education possible. My goal is to make my students well prepared for the various state tests and assessments that will be given starting in third grade and above.

I feel as a 2nd grade teacher, it is very important to make students not just strong readers, but life-long readers.

This professional development will help me to inspire my students in so many ways. It will certainly inspire me as an educator and person. Thank you for your time and consideration. Happy Go Teach is like no other teacher professional development on the market. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and I would love the chance to attend.
