Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am fortunate enough to be the teacher of an amazing group of children. Many of these children look forward to school being a place of comfort and consistency because they come from situations that may not always provide these things. School is a place for learning, as well as comfort and support.
Many of the students in my class also have a variety of needs that have led me to create a unique style classsroom.
I will be creating an environment that allows the children to learn in their own unique ways while providing structure and comfort. I will be including a "calm down" area so students may take a break when needed.
My Project
My goal is to provide my students with a flexible environment while also allowing them the opportunity to easily participate in group learning activities. These clipboards will be painted with the chalkboard paint and then the students will have a portable "desk" that will also allow for them to jot down answers and messages during group work that I can easily see. This will provide me for quick assessment of understanding during our larger group sessions. The quick assessment will allow me to flexibly change instruction as I need to to be sure my students achieve the desired learning goal.
