This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is filled with English language learners. I work in a 5th grade dual language classroom where 50% of of the students in my room are learning English while 50% of the students are learning Spanish. Our students work together in teams to learn each other's ideas while learning content!
By providing my students with journals, glitter, and decorative tape, they will have the opportunity to express their themselves through creatively designing their own journal.
Designing their own journal gives them choice and freedom to design their own journal. This can journal can be used for self reflection, drawing, and expressing thoughts they have.
Journal writing is a way to express creative thoughts and reflect through out the day on inner emotions. Students will have the opportunity to be creative through art and writing in one project. Students enjoy making things their own!
