Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have been given the opportunity to teach my former kinder scholars in first grade. Most of my students have been together since Pre-K! My students quickly created a family environment in the classroom, they are always there to help one another. I truly expect amazing things from them!
Sadly, the pandemic that began towards the end of the school year created a negative impact on their learning environment.
Our scholars are from low socioeconomic backgrounds and need extra support and resources. As of today we will be continuing with teaching online and have plans to transition to face-to-face instruction on October 19, unless the district states otherwise.
My Project
The items in this project will be able to reach every student to help support them even from a distance. Sometimes it is difficult to continue learning when you don’t have the supplies. This project provides materials like journals, crayons, and manipulatives that the students can use for learning at home. For example, number lines can be used to follow along during math lessons, whether that be in person or online. Also, the online interactive circle time and all about letters can be used during our virtual lessons. Even after distance learning, all materials will continue to be used in the classroom.
