This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The hard work of the class of 2018 is finally paying off! They are getting ready to start their life after high school and we couldn't be more proud. My students come from many low-income neighborhoods in Chicago but the majority of them live in the Pilsen neighborhood.

My students are motivated, passionate young people who are ready to become the 1st in their family to attend and graduate from college successfully!

They have worked hard throughout these last four years and we want to celebrate their accomplishments. They have taken the SAT multiple times, applied to colleges, helped support their families and still managed to meet and exceed the academic challenges of high school. Each and every one of them is special and they are all our future.

My Project

Many of my students come from low income families and attend a title 1 school. My students and their families understand the importance of college, but they fear the rising costs of higher education. At our school, students have access to technology but their families do not have the financial resources to provide the essentials that a new college student would need to improve their chances of academic success. By providing these essential materials to our students we will relieve their families from this financial burden and support their first-generation student achieve their goal.

The class of 2018 has worked extremely hard, overcoming obstacles, financial hardships and have earned their spot at some of the top universities in the country.

Our hope is that our seniors not only go to college but also succeed. We want to give them the right tools to do so so they can focus on their path to success instead of worrying about paying for a laptop or having to run to the library before class to print out a last minute paper.
