My Students

“They say time changes things, but you have to change them yourself,"- Andy Warhol. My debaters aspire to alter the world in every way. Sadly, we live in an age where supplies are expensive and funding is minimal. Subsequently, my students do not have access to the tools necessary to succeed.

Each of my students are unique.

Quiet, outgoing, liberal, conservative, athletic, or crazy, debate has brought many of our high school cliques together and created one common goal: success. As a team, my students have overcome huge obstacles and reached incredible heights despite our financial disability. The Kansas Public School System may be underfunded, but is very supportive of molding leaders for the future. That is why, my students and I ask you to put your faith into a group of dedicated, smart teenagers and help us change the world.

My Project

The resources we are in desperate need of are the most basic for debating. We are in critical need of tubs to store evidence in, without these we will not be able to even begin the tournament season. In addition, folders must be used to organize this evidence so the students can find in the midst of a rapid round. The purpose is deeper though, these students are wanting to grow intellectually, they have a desire to learn and lead. We must provide them with the opportunities that they so desire, regardless of their financial opportunities.

Debate provides endless learning experiences and builds connections for the future.

It is essential to allow young adults the same opportunities regardless of the financial situation of the student, school, or state. Our project provides all of this and additionally a sense of camaraderie and a feeling of family for determined teenagers.
