My Project

My students are special because they are from a mixed-race urban community in Manchester, CT. My goal is to teach them different dance disciplines and teach them how to be aware of themselves and others around them.

Implementing the arts in urban schools give students the opportunity to improve academically, socially and emotionally.

Every urban school that I have worked in and implemented arts programs calmed my students' negative behaviors. Learning the arts introduced them to skills sets that would not have been afforded to them and it gave them something to look forward to and be motivated by.
