My Students

Our school's theme this year is Together is Better. Every student has potential to be a great leader in different ways. All of my students are caring and hard working despite the many different interests and talents. My students enjoy learning about new things.

My class consists of 19 students who are eager to learn and show their creativity in various ways.

Of my 19 students, 2 students receive special education services, and another 2 students receive speech therapy. Even though we have very different goals, all of my students support each other and strive for excellence.

My Project

Your donation will go towards building materials to work on STEM projects throughout the year. My students thrive academically; however, they lack problem solving strategies. Students miss play time in schools because of increased academic rigor. Using their interests to complete STEM challenges will force them to be flexible thinkers. Challenges will be linked with content. For example: build a strong house for the 3 little pigs as we learn about fairy tales in reading. The Fairytale Stem Kit would be a great extension for our reading units. Students will create Marble Mazes, build with k'netics, and Legos to work on problem solving and communication strategies.Students will also be able to use STEM challenge cards when they are finished with work early. Magnet builders and electric circuits will help support our science unit on magnets. These items will be more accessible to students when they are organized in clear tubs.

STEM surrounds our every day lives.

Students will explore various engineering challenges that will hopefully develop a passion for a field in science, technology, engineering, or math. With our changes in globalization, students needs to learn to adapt our thinking to better serve others. STEM projects are great for teaching students socialization and problem solving skills. Students greatly benefit from hands-on exploration during the school day. When students have a chance to use their interests to explore, learning takes off. In turn, they will develop problem solving, collaboration, and deeper understanding of science and math concepts.
