My Students

I work in a Title I school district, meaning the majority of my students are coming from a low economic background. Our population comes from the lowest poverty in the county to one of the highest income developments in the county. Many of the students receive government housing and live with multiple family members in Bear, DE.

Each student in our school receives free breakfast, free lunch, and a healthy snack each day.

I believe school should be their escape. It should be fun and a place where they learn that anything is possible! It is my goal to expose my students to the generosity of the world.

I have had smaller projects funded through DonorsChoose. My students were in awe knowing that complete strangers cared about them and their success. My hope is that they will pay your generosity forward in the future.

My Project

Watching a student come into school on a cold winter day with just a t-shirt on, can be heartbreaking. Many children do not own warm clothes to wear to school or outside to play. Over the years I have given students the coat off my back, gloves off my hands, and one time even the sneakers on my feet. It is not a child's fault that they are lacking in the supplies they need, and we as adults should be there to help them get through.

Many times students that come to school only get the free breakfast and lunch that the school provides, then have to wait again until the next day to get breakfast again.

I would love to be able to contribute snacks to them, so that they do not go hungry.
