Mr. Carrier from Pearland TX is requesting art supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students educational posters needed for daily learning. These are critical times that must be filled with exposure to content that would normally be accessed when schools are open.

My students are a unique population of wonderful individuals. Our school celebrates everyone’s uniqueness by embracing inclusion and differences. I work directly with 7th and 8th grade individuals with disabilities and developmental delays that range from autism, downs syndrome, and multiple impairments. They are a very eager bunch who are driven by a positive and energetic environment. They love to be active and engaged in hands on learning with each other and their teacher. Along with making personal academic and functional gains in my classroom, my students also experience learning opportunities in small chunks of the day with their typically developing peers. My goal as their teacher is to help them develop the prerequisite skills that will prepare them to be successful in lifelong learning and contributing members both at home and in society. This class is a wonderful group who celebrates and encourages each other and embraces effort. We like to say that when we look at each other we see the abilities not disabilities.
My students benefit from hands on learning and visuals. The more structure the better they perform. It is important for them to have access to simple learning visuals like posters and tangible-manipulative tools in order to grasp basic concepts in ELA, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Activities for Daily Living.
The academic posters I wish to acquire for my students will be used at home during the school closures.
This will give them access to learning and maintenance of core concepts without requiring the internet and electronic devices as some students have limited/no access to the internet and most learn better with visual supports.
