I'm a math and STEM teacher at a local middle school that serves a high number of students with parents in the military. My classes consist of seventh and eighth graders in algebra, STEM 2, and STEM 3. My students love learning about anything that is computer science-related. They come from varying economic backgrounds, but have two major things in common: they love engaging in STEM activities and competing in local competitions. The two main groups are robotics and cyber teams. Our robotics group learns to build and program their robot using Arduino/C, while our cyber teams compete in Cyber Patriot.
My Project
There is an ever-growing interest from colleges and companies for students who have STEM-related experience. This project will allow students to build upon their knowledge of computer science and engineering principles by competing in Cyber Patriot. With this new iPad, students will be exposed to programming, networking, and other computer science topics. In addition, this new iPad will lower the student-to-iPad ratio, increase the number of Cyber Patriot teams, and allow our school to have more students in the competitions. Finally, my students will learn to work collaboratively with their teammates in competing in their Cyber Patriot competitions.
