Cutting and Manipulating Cardboard and Wood Safely

My students need tools to help them easily work with wood and cardboard. The Makedo Cardboard Construction Toolset, Crop-a-dile, and Craft Easy Cutter ( will allow students to independently manipulate cardboard and wood for their engineering.

My Students

Like the natural force of magnetic attraction, my elementary STEAM students seek out opportunities for hands on learning. Their desire to communicate, create, collaborate, and think critically is wonderful to witness!

From first bell to last bell, they learn, share, and build relationships.

Students in my room are inquisitive participants in the learning process. They help make decisions about what we'll learn and the best method for doing so. They are problem-solvers and take pride in the collaborative spirit we've created in our classroom.

My Project

My STEAM students get excited when designing and engineering! They want to work with the materials as independently as possible. And, with many students working at the same time, I search for tools that allow for safe, independent interaction with wood and cardboard.

Finding tools and gear that will work well for my students, while allowing them to work safely is a high priority!

My students will wear safety glasses when working on their inventions and designs. They will be able to cut and manipulate wood (craft sticks and wood scraps) with a Crop-a-dile or Easy Cutter Ultimate. Additionally, my students will be able to turn cardboard into perfect parts for their designs using the Makedo tools.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
