Help us get organized! Currently we have one old looking bin that the students drop their jackets, sweatshirts and backpacks into. Often times the students have to toss all the other backpacks out of the bin just to find theirs, which is the last one at the bottom!
Our school is a new adventure in education.
We are a charter school for students with learning disabilities. Learning disabilities are neurological disorders that interfere with a person's ability to store, process, or produce information and create a "gap" between ones ability and performance. Individuals with learning disabilities have statistically significant impairments and are generally of average or above average intelligence.
Learning Disabilities are not cured and do not go away, but individuals can learn to compensate for and even overcome areas of weakness with the proper training and education.
Some common disabilities experienced by our children individually or in combination are: auditory processing disorder, receptive language disorder, expressive language disorder, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia, visual perception, memory dysfunction and dyslexia.
My Project
We are requesting a 'Heavy-Duty Storage & Communication Center' from LakeShore Learning. This is a place where the students can keep all of their belongings and important papers for their parents together in one convenient location! The rugged unit features storage space for 10 children, including 10 roomy cubbies, each with a sturdy, rounded hook for hanging a backpack or jacket. A shelf above each cubby works perfectly alone or with the storage trays below to provide the ideal place for schoolwork, parent notices, art projects and more!
As a teacher, I recognize that one of the most important tasks is to create an organized and knowledge enriching classroom.
Keeping the classroom neat and organized results in a better learning environment for my students.
