My Students

The other day, I was talking with a student and he told me, "Everyone always says I have potential. They say it, but that's it. Nothing happens."

While it is true, all of my students have amazing potential, they feel stuck in special education.

Their deficits frustrate them, and they feel like they cannot learn, but the passion for learning is there, it just needs to be discovered.

To quote Ignacio Estrada:

"If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn."

My Project

It is important to know what is going on in the world around us. With access to TIME For Kids and Map Skills for Today, my students will be able to learn about current events through text they can access. There are also great activities that can really support student understanding.

Through class discussions, my students will continue to develop their critical thinking skills.

These articles will open up great discussion topics.

Through structured support, I will teach them to ask questions, share opinions, and accept different viewpoints. TIME For Kids magazine is a great foundation for students to expand their knowledge and better understand the world around them!
