Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Ahhhh- Middle School...... brings back memories, huh? I have the honor and privilege working with this diverse population every day. It is truly a rewarding experience to work with this dynamic group of students. I teach all grade levels, 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Needless to say, my job is never monotonous. There is always a sense of curious excitement, stemming from all corners of the room. This year, I am teaching Intensive English and 7th grade English.
Middle school in general is diverse.
In particular, my students come from all over the world, speaking different languages, having unique life experiences. The majority of my students are only here for a short time, as their parents fulfill employment obligations. It's interesting to watch the daily interactions among the students as they explore other cultures and navigate the middle school adventure.
My Project
These materials will have a direct impact to my students learning. Students struggle keeping up with current events that are happening around the world. This magazine is a great resource to educate our youth and give them the opportunity to review and practice skills that are aligned to the common core standards.
Many of my students are reading below grade level, this magazine will help give them the confidence to practice reading and analyzing real world events.
This magazine will expose age appropriate material in a colorful meaningful way and it will give students an opportunity to practice their reading skills.
