My students need a variety of reading comprehension materials geared towards varying grades that provide high-interest topics with an emphasis on practicing locating answers through texts.
My students come from varied socioeconomic backgrounds. They are eager learners who want to learn, especially when material is presented visually along with hands-on practice by providing
ample opportunities utilizing current comprehension materials that differentiate instructional levels.
My students can make connections to what they learn when learning is brought to life for them using visual models with hands on practice. Even though my students learn differently from others, they are very capable boys and girls who want to succeed given the proper materials and opportunities. They come to school each and every day and give their best effort. These scholars deserve the very best!
My Project
I am requesting a variety of books with comprehension materials that provide high-interest with varying readability levels. My students learn using visual guides, lots of practice and repetition on a daily basis.
Understanding what you read is the key to success!
These nonfiction and fiction books along with social studies and science books will provide grade level topics for my students to read on their current reading levels. At the same time, my students will practice locating evidence to prove their answers while utilizing inferential skills, locating main ideas and truly proving their understanding of a plethora of texts. These materials will also provide much practice in gearing up for standardized testing.
