Curiosity Under the Lens

Help me give my students access to the microscopic world; unlocking scientific discovery through classroom microscopy.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are naturally curious and creative learners who thrive on hands-on science experiences. As we explore the structure and function of plant and animal cells, students analyze printed images, draw and label diagrams, and build cell models. While these activities build foundational knowledge, they are missing one essential experience—observing real cells through a microscope.

Cells are the basic building blocks of life, yet they are invisible to the naked eye.

A classroom microscope would allow students to see firsthand the structures they are studying, bringing abstract biological concepts to life. By observing plant, animal, and bacterial cells, students can identify important cell structures such as the nucleus, cell wall, and cell membrane, and better understand how these parts work together to support life.

Providing students with access to a microscope will transform science lessons from learning about cells to actually investigating them. In addition to deepening their understanding of life science, students will develop essential scientific skills by learning how to properly use one of the most fundamental tools in scientific research. Microscopes are not just a classroom resource—it is a gateway to discovery, inquiry, and a lifelong appreciation of science
