Curing Childhood Trauma Through Cuddles & Self-Regulation
Help me give my students fun, warm, and engaging tools for self-regulation in the classroom.

Hooray! This project is fully funded
We serve a diverse community of students with unlimited potential! Our school is a unique school in that 90% of our student population receives Free and Reduced lunch and 43% of our student population speaks a language other than English at home. Some of the families we serve have experienced financial hardships, poverty, and even homelessness. These traumatic experiences can put great stress on our youngest learners at school. Despite these challenges our students excel every day and are very resilient!
Childhood trauma is a reality that many of our students face day to day. These experiences can cause children to experience extreme stress, fear, and hopelessness in situations that are beyond their control. Dealing with trauma makes it very difficult to focus on learning. We strive to create a school environment that allows students to feel nurtured, valued and safe.
As a Responsive Classroom community we teach our students strategies that help them to self-regulate when they become overwhelmed.
The Sootheze stuffed animals will be used as resources for students to help overcome feelings of anxiety and stress at school.
