Culture Crafts Through Reading

Help me give my students colored pencils, a pencil sharpener, snacks, books and other supplies they need for fun activities and learning adventures in elementary Spanish! The books are a great tool for them to get more comfortable reading and writing a second language.

My Project

The materials and supplies in my list with really help my classroom and students excel. Sometimes, when learning a second language, students may feel overwhelmed. Opening them up to simple things they already love and enjoy (ie: art, music, reading) is a wonderful way to get them wanting to learn more.

My students LOVE to read in Spanish!

They feel so proud of being able to read in a second language. It's such a rewarding feeling. Children's books that are new and relevant will be well-loved amongst all ages, k-5. We love to bring the Hispanic culture into our classroom by infusing our lessons with fun arts and crafts. Using construction paper, glue, coloring pencils and other materials can really get their imagination rolling.

Music is such a big part of Hispanic culture. Having enough music shakers for the entire class will really help the whole class feel the culture. They will help them keep rhythm and tempo when learning new songs from around the world, which is one of their favorite activities! They love to get up and dance and really feel the music.

Teaching 700 students a week can be very challenging at times, yet it is VERY rewarding. With a big age range, kindergarten through fifth, sometimes it can also be a little expensive, sharing glue sticks and markers with 5 year olds and 11 year olds can be tricky, as the young ones are still learning how to use materials. Having your support will be such a blessing not just for me, but all my students!
