Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a group of curious, bright, and kind kindergarten students in the South Bronx. They come to kindergarten excited to learn how to read, write, become mathematicians, and to play!
My students are explorers and their imaginations are limitless!
When listening to a good book, they are eager to predict what comes next and share their ideas. Kindergarten students love read-alouds and remembering stories and events to enhance their play. They act out the stories and events through play and use their imaginations to create their own stories!
My Project
Help me give my students books and materials that reflect their various cultural experiences! As a white teacher teaching students of color, it is very important for me to recognize my scholars' identities and help to cultivate an empowered classroom.
We will use these materials to decorate the classroom as well as to bolster our library!
I envision scholars using these materials during structured activities as well as during choice-time. I love that this set includes skin-tone colors that match my diverse scholars, as well as different types of hair, and I am sure they will be very excited to use them!!
Thank you for celebrating my scholars and contributing to their growth!
