The future of the world is in my classroom today. One of the reasons I love teaching is that I get the chance to work with and influence the future leaders of our world. Every single day, I make it a point to remind my kids that they are leaders, champions, and world changers. I want my kids to know they are special, loved, and valued.
Currently, I have a group of eighteen seven- and eight-year-olds.
They are energetic, enthusiastic, and full of LIFE! My classroom is very diverse with a wide range of ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. My students love learning, playing, and learning while playing.
My Project
I am so thankful to teach in such a wonderful and very diverse school district. In my classroom, many students come from other countries and are English Language Learners (ELLs). Every child has a different background and culture with diverse traditions. As a teacher, my goal is to have a classroom library that reflects the diversity found in my room. I want my students to be able to read books with stories and illustrations that they can identify with and that look like them. The world is such a beautiful place and I want to share this with my students. I want my kids to be able to read and learn about people from all around the world.
The books I have requested will enhance the learning and classroom community for my ELLs, as well as their classmates.
Reading books about diverse cultures encourages thoughtful discussions about the unique experiences of people around the world. In today's world, it is so crucial that we teach our kids about inspiring people who changed the world through kindness, peace, and tolerance. Thank you so much for considering my project!
