This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The resources I am requesting will allow me to implement a new and exciting activity into our school makerspace! Students will first learn about embroidery through a global lens by researching embroidery from different cultures. Then, they will learn how to do hand embroidery. Once they understand the concept of hand embroidery, they will learn how to code embroidery using https://www.turtlestitch.org/ . We will then print out their embroidery using a digital embroidery machine.

Students will learn about different cultures through research and production of embroidery from different countries.

They will apply that research by producing their own embroidery projects. In addition to learning hand embroidery, they will also learn how to code and produce digital embroidery. Students will learn skills uniquely transferable to future technology careers and entrepreneurship!

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
