Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school library is more than a place to check out books—it’s a vibrant learning space where students explore literacy, digital citizenship, and informational skills. But beyond academics, the library should also be a place of joy, curiosity, and community. This project brings together several goals to help students fall in love with reading and feel at home in the library.
One of the most powerful tools we can give students is a love for reading.
To encourage a love of reading, I’m requesting small prizes to celebrate student reading goals. These rewards help students build confidence and create positive associations with books, turning reading into something they’re excited to pursue.
To make the library more socially engaging, I’m also asking for collaborative games and toys. In a world where screens dominate children’s time, opportunities for unstructured, face-to-face play are increasingly rare. By offering open-ended play experiences, the library can become a space where imagination and teamwork thrive.
Additionally, I’m requesting printer ink to support everyday library functions. From printing reading logs and certificates to creating signage and lesson materials, ink is a vital resource that helps keep our programs running smoothly and ensures students have access to tangible learning tools.
Together, these resources will transform the library into a place where learning and laughter coexist—where students not only grow academically but also connect socially and emotionally. With your support, we can create a library experience that inspires, empowers, and welcomes every child.
