Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Welcome! UTK is a special place to be! I am so lucky I get to spend my days watching these young ones discover and learn. Our UTK class is embarking on an exciting journey to explore the wonders of gardening.
By introducing my young students to the science of gardening, plants and beneficial insects, I can foster a deeper understanding of the natural world while promoting critical thinking skills.
The science of gardening and growing things provides hands-on learning opportunities for my class. With the necessary gardening supplies, my students will actively engage in planting and nurturing the growing plants and fostering a deeper connection to nature and sustainability. The selected books will inspire students to explore themes of growth, beneficial insects and plant care. Being able to learn about beneficial insects with help my students understand cycles of growing and planting and encourage them to be stewards of our environment.
Many new immigrants find their first home on American soil here at our school. Our school is located above the hustle and bustle of the geographic center of our city. Education is very important to our thriving, multi-cultural neighborhood. Eighty-five percent of students are English learners with non-English speakers in the home. By funding our project, you will help provide essential gardening supplies, books and insect related materials that will enrich our learning experience and enable us to cultivate green thumbs and curious minds.
