My Project

In preparation of the new '26-'27 school year, many items need to be refilled, replaced, or added. My students with disabilities (and who are in a self-contained classroom) have shown a love for learning about science this past year. We would love to build our classroom library with additional National Geographic books. These books help them build background knowledge, connect with the real world, and broaden their understanding and curiosity. Students will be exposed to reading diagrams, captions, and charts; skills that will help them across different subject areas.

The sensory beads and magnetic building tiles will be used to de-stress after completion of students' academic work.

My students need an environment that reinforces positive behaviors in a safe place where they can process their emotions. My classroom is designed to help students who struggled in a traditional classroom setting (despite multiple interventions). Students will use the magnetic tiles and sensory beads during workshop time (a small break after completion of their academic work). Building projects with friends help them develop empathy and social emotional skills, as well as provide an outlet to relax, have fun, and de-stress from the academic demands placed on them in the classroom.

The other miscellaneous items are needed to refill the treasure box, prepare for (very important!) birthday celebrations, and last but not least, to keep our classroom organized and running smoothly!
