I have had the pleasure of meeting and teaching music to over 600 students every year on our military post! My students face frequent moves, repeat deployments and reintegration. Students moving in and out regularly poses a challenge, but I view this as an opportunity to get to know and teach even more students than the typical public school music teacher!
I am honored and proud to serve my military community in Colorado Springs.
My students love to play instruments, sing, perform, and create. Every grade level performs a musical that highlights the skills that we have learned in class and engages the community. I am continually seeking to better the experience for my students, and I desire to inspire students and cultivate a love for music.
My Project
Acquiring iPads will allow for different structures of learning in my music classroom. One of the music standards is creation, and my students will be able to create their own music using Garage Band! iMovie will allow my students to create their own movies that reflect the mood of the music. Music production is an exciting career that students can be exposed to through apps that allow the students to explore and create!
The iPads will give my students a means to digitally create their own music that they can easily share with others!
I desire to cultivate creativity in my music classroom, and these iPads will meet the need for technology in my music classroom. My classroom is not meeting the needs of my learners in terms of technology, and this grant will help meet those needs.
