Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We live in a day and age where a lot of students don't know how to express themselves creatively or emotionally. It can be a struggle for them to know how to handle their emotions and what to do in social situations. School isn't just about academics. It's also about learning how to work as a community.

It is important that students cultivate their creativity and learn how to express their emotions in a productive way.

The 15 drawer cart will be used to help organize the supplies in our classroom so that they can be easily accessed. The drawing and watercolor paper, along with the scented markers, will be used to help students explore artistically.

With the calming posters, fidget toys, emotion spot books, marble mats, and anxiety stickers, students will be able to go to the calming corner to take a moment if they're feeling overwhelmed or unsure of how to express what they're feeling. We will use the social emotional game to help practice what to do in situations that might happen at school or home.

The sharpener and hole punch will be used to help prepare materials for the students. The guided reading strips will be used to help students who struggle to focus on the sentence they're reading. The desk dividers will help students focus during assessments and the mini flip charts will help me to quickly assess if a student needs help or if they understand the material.
