Our focus is to support preschoolers in learning kindness, compassion, empathy towards others. We will use the SEL materials to engage children in lessons designed to teach the value of kindness, empathy, and understanding towards others. By providing these essential tools in pre-K, we will empower our students to become kind, compassionate, and caring leaders who make a positive impact in their school and their communities.
With these materials, our students will create artwork that promotes themes of compassion, diversity, and empathy, fostering a culture of kindness and inclusion in our classroom.
Our Pre-k students are just learning how to identify and learning how to regulate their emotions. It can be challenging for them to think beyond their own emotions on various given moments throughout the day and difficult for them to place themselves in another’s person shoes and to see other’s perspectives. By providing our students with these necessary resources and materials in our pre-K classroom, we are creating a compassionate learning environment where empathy and kindness will be celebrated and practiced each day! Students will listen to stories about sharing, listening, understanding, and empathizing with others. We will engage in thoughtful discussions to support children in learning about being compassionate in their classroom, with their families and beyond their school community. We will focus on how we can spread kindness, love, and compassion to our friends who are sad or having a hard day.
We will use the writing tools and empathy journals each day to draw pictures that express their understanding how to cultivate compassion. We will assess their social emotional learning through turn and talk sessions with each other as part of our classroom SEL curriculum each day and will engage with the Little Spot books and emotion pieces to identify and explain own emotions.
