My Project

Our high school students face numerous pressures, from academic stress to social challenges. To support their mental health and provide a creative outlet, we propose the establishment of a "Cultivating Calm" makerspace.

This initiative aims to equip students with craft supplies, planting materials, journals, and calming resources to create a sanctuary for self-expression, relaxation, and personal growth.

The items requested will make a difference in their learning in these ways:

The planting supplies provide students with an opportunity to connect with nature. Gardening is a therapeutic activity that promotes mindfulness and patience. Journals encourage students to practice introspection, goal-setting, and reflective writing. Stress relief balls, calming strips, and fidget devices promote relaxation and mental clarity. These materials will help students decompress and reduce stress, allowing them to approach their studies and daily challenges with a more balanced and calm demeanor.

The goals for this project include enhancing mental well-being by providing students with a variety of tools and resources to manage stress and emotional challenges effectively, fostering a supportive environment for mental health; encouraging connection with nature by integrating planting supplies to enable students to engage in gardening, which supports mindfulness and emotional well-being; and, fostering personal growth by using journals and reflective writing to help students develop self-awareness, set personal goals, and improve their emotional intelligence.

By investing in their well-being through this makerspace, we empower our students to thrive both academically and personally, fostering a more supportive and enriched learning environment. Your support will make a profound difference in their lives, helping them build a foundation for lasting mental health and success.
