My Students

My energetic preschoolers enter the classroom ready to learn, discover, and explore. I teach in an Early Childhood Special Education classroom that consists of a three-year-old class in the morning, and a four-year-old class in the afternoon. Each class has 5 peer models, children who are typically developing and model age appropriate skills. My class averages about 24 students, although new students who have been recently evaluated and deemed to have a developmental delay, enter the classroom throughout the year. I have two paraprofessionals who support the students as well.

My Project

Sometimes, little learners, sometimes as young as 2 years old, have not been in a structured group setting before and are a little wiggly or need their boundaries defined while in a group setting. As the children mature, they learn their defined space and are able to join the other students on the floor for group time. During group time, we learn many pre-academic concepts, as well as the social skills needed in a group setting. These chairs are durable and will last a very long time, while allowing all children to be together in a group setting. Thank you for considering my project.
