My Students

Smooth transitions are key in any classroom and my second grade classroom is no different.

My second graders represent a diverse cross-section of America and the world.

Students' cultural backgrounds range from Swedish to Japanese-American to native New Yorkers. Their energy, intensity, and thirst for knowledge drives me to continue to retool and rethink my teaching in order to inspire and connect with our future generation!

My Project

Space is at a premium in New York City and creative storage solutions are a necessity in the classroom. Student cubbies provide a place for students to store their folders for each content area, math book and store personal drawings and keepsakes. Thirty cubbies will not only store all 26 of my current students' belongings but provide ample room should class size grow down the road.

This cubby shelf will not only conserve space in our classroom, but will be accessible to every student at a height that is developmentally appropriate.

Student-created name tags will personalize their individual bin.
