Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a low-income/ high poverty school. Regardless of the challenges my students may face at home, they come into school full of energy, and excited to learn new things. My students are bursting with personality, and curiosity. They discover new things by manipulating centers, engaging with their peers, and participating in student-centered activities. My students have become independent and are always eager to try to do things by themselves. My students are wonderful little people that are ready to conquer anything!
My Project
My students are learning to be very independent! They are able to clean up after themselves, put things away, and much more. We need cubbies so my students can put away their jackets, and backpacks in the morning, take out and put away their blankets after rest time, and pack up for dismissal independently.
Unfortunately just about half of my students are not able to put their backpacks, jackets, and blankets away by themselves.
We only have cubbies for 10 students.
Eight students have hooks that are too high to reach. The students belongings are placed in individual XL ziplock bags for good hygiene. Cubbies have a built in wall in-between each cubby to separate belongings of each student.
With these cubbies, my students will have more confidence that they can do things all by themselves!
