My fifth graders are the best! They are creative, active, inquisitive, and collaborative. Every day, they work hard towards becoming great future citizens of our community!
They come into school excited to learn, which makes me excited to teach them!
Whether we are reading A Long Walk to Water and talking about the world's water crisis, learning about cycling of matter in our ecosystem by creating a school garden, or designing and building gingerbread houses to practice our math skills, I am blown away by their comments, questions and insights on what we are learning. I can't wait to see what they accomplish this year and in the future!
My Project
Covid has been very disruptive to learning over the last two years. Due to their unprecedented last couple of years of experiences in school, these students face unique challenges unlike those they’d be facing in a non-covid world. They could sure use the tools to support them along their learning journey.
My goal is to create cross-curricular learning experiences for my students by incorporating literature into my science and social studies lessons to keep them excited and engaged in learning.
Through this project I am hoping to grow my non-fiction library to supplement my learning units that include things like planning a garden, historical fiction novel studies, and a constitution bee.
