Help me give my students replacements of high usage items. These are items that get used up by the end of the year and need to be replaced before the start of a new school year.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
This is a long list of supplies that the students use constantly. This is composed of thread, pins and machine needles. Students are always slow to use interfacing at the start of the year when they are unfamiliar with it, but by this time of year I struggle to keep enough on hand for student projects. This also includes some new items such as a bejeweller and snap tool. This will allow them to take on more projects and personalize them. My sewing class often does sewing projects for the school and having these extra tools will help them accomplish these extra tasks. This year we have been recruited to help make masks for the senior masquerade prom. Most of the items are replacements for high usage items in preparation for next year. The fat quarters and hardware will allow next years students to take on many small projects without having to buy fabric. This allows them time to plan for larger fabric purchases later in the semester while doing small projects early in the semester. Most of my students are low income and fabric purchases are difficult for some households. I keep a donation supply of fabric and try to have smaller projects with provided goods to make sure all students can particpate fully in sewing class.
