My Project

My students come together from rural communities throughout central Illinois to learn in the classroom and engage in sports. The students involved in sports take a bus to a nearby town to practice and travel to play games.

The chess sets and game timers will allow students to join a club at our school!

They will learn to play chess or hone their chess-playing skills to become a competitive chess team. Our goal is to enter the IHSA this coming season and work towards becoming one of the top ten teams (currently all northern Illinois teams).

Plus! Playing chess offers several benefits, including increased confidence and concentration, improved problem-solving skills and creativity, improved memory, and teaches patience and sportsmanship.
