Critical Thinking and Social Equity in Kindergarten
Help me give my students an eye for equity and critically think about differences and similarities among peers and the world around them. Students need to see themselves reflected in the classroom.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students will be coming in after a year of online learning, and this will be their first time in the classroom. Many of our extra math manipulatives went home over the school closures, and there for interest levels and buy in students need further manipulaties for counting, learning to add and subtract and model numbers.
My Project
Students will be able to create portraits of themselves utilizing skin tones more Iike their own or their classmates, versus the standard Crayola peach. Students will be able go utilize the classroom buzzers and whiteboards in conjunction with complex diverse classroom read aloud to discuss thematic elements as it relates to social equity.
Students will be able to see themselves reflected more readily in the classroom library, and be given additional tools to help support them in their quick jot answers and writing prompts (white boards).
The books will help facilitate classroom discussions and add more diversity to our classroom library.
