I have the pleasure of teaching all of the students in the building. We are culturally diverse and span all socioeconomic levels. Sadly, the number of students who do not have much is growing. I get to know my students on a personal level. I also have to be strong because, in this city school district, I hear many heartbreaking stories. They have tough lives with a lot of gang activity, drug use, and family issues. I open up my classroom to many of the community organizations, so our students have somewhere else to go. I also open my classroom door to all of my students at any time, for anything. I try to introduce them to healthier lifestyle choices in any way I can.
I have heard so many wonderful things about the Cricut, that I had to find out for myself what the hype is all about. I found out that using vinyl, which is our school color, I can make numbers and logos for our sports' teams shirts and clothing for games and practices. I also use the tools and T-shirt maker tools to create these items for the students. Right now, we are using duct tape to create numbers or block numbers because of our lack of uniforms.
Vinyl and Cricut tools are the perfect answer to fix our desperately needed uniforms.
