My Students

My students are special. They are inquisitive and energetic learners. They love challenges and are always willing to try new things. They come from a wide range of differentiated backgrounds. There is an ELL (English Language Learners) population as well as students who are receiving free or reduced-price lunch. Some of my students come from well traveled and enlightened family situations but many others have very few opportunities. Using creativity along with books that will keep them engaged will encourage reading as the means to inspire students at all levels.

My Project

As a media specialist I look for ways to expand the minds of my students. I have provided an assortment of Maker Space activities designed for the students to share resources and knowledge, work on projects and build based on their own ideas.

Along with other traditional Maker Space activities, I try to provide an outlet beyond the books to allow their creativity to shine through.

I would like to add a Cricut machine to the activities I have provided as another means of collaboration and design opportunities. I feel that any time I can provide a child with a chance to be creative it will spur a desire to want to do more. Not every child will be an avid reader but every child has the desire to be successful in one manner or another.
