This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class consists of fourteen males and one female student. Ninety-six percent of the students in my class receive a free or reduced-price lunch. Most students come from blue-collar, working families. We are in a high poverty location.

I have the great opportunity of teaching in a special education setting where I am able to scaffold and ensure that each student has an equal opportunity for learning.

I take both equality and equity into consideration when it comes to providing my students with the education they deserve.

My Project

My students all have special learning needs due to them all being diagnosed with Autism. This means that my Special Day Classroom needs to be accommodating to these needs. I strive to meet these needs by presenting lessons in fun, creative, and sensory sensitive ways. My students’ favorite part of the day is when they get to draw and/or do Arts & Crafts projects.

Please help provide Crayola Design Your Game kit and puzzle blocks so they may learn about STEAM principles such as problem solving, collaboration, and design in a fun and engaging manner!

The hands-on activities will also lead to various Social Emotional Learning opportunities and will do it in a manner that will seem like playing to them.
