Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach Kindergarten to 24 of the sweetest, most loving, caring, and smart 5 year old kids. They love coming to school to learn, to be part of something special and I strive each day to make each day the best ever.
Our school is 99% Latino and our entire school qualifies for free lunch.
Many students live in multi-generational homes and their parents work 2-3 jobs just to make ends meet. I do my best to make my classroom a positive and nurturing environment for them everyday, however, due to budget cutbacks it is sometimes difficult to get the materials we need to establish success.
My Project
My students need dolls and dollhouse furniture so they can use the dollhouse that we have in class. The students will be able to use the materials by role playing, being creative, communicating with each other and having fun at the same time.
What's a Kindergarten class without pretend play?
My students will be able to use the dolls and furniture to expand their creativity and oral language development. They can apply skills that they have learned during Language Arts while they learn to socialize with each other. They will be able to use the materials on a daily basis, learning while they are having fun. We will play the dollhouse furniture and dolls in an open center so that it can be used daily by all students.
