My students are a diverse group of children, growing and learning in a small K-8 school community with a focus on social justice. They are artists, dreamers, thinkers, talkers, questioners, and doers. They are budding artists, world travelers, scientists, musicians, actors, entrepreneurs, teachers. They are our future and I want to give them a chance to bring the visual arts into their world.
My students love to be creative, and deserve the chance to have the materials to explore our world through the visual arts!
My Project
This year, I will have the opportunity to teach art to every student at our school from grades K-8! Our students will be able to learn through creative art projects that include many cultures, artists, and incorporate the diversity that reflects today's world.
We need the materials to create awesome artwork, such as illuminated letters, African lions, Chinese dragon masks, and paper molas, just to name a few projects planned for this school year.
The materials will give my students hands-on experience, and connect the learning to the beauty and diversity of interesting cultures around the world. Throughout the year, students will be able to experiment with a variety of art mediums, express what they have learned about different art forms and artists, and have fun creating at the same time!
