For years I have created and recreated tools that my students have used, but they are 5 and often rip or fold things. NOW, I can use them year after year, thanks to you! \r\n\r\nThis year I collaborated with our school Occupational Therapist in order to serve a particular student, but also my whole class better. We came up with options for what to do when students are feeling disregulated and then together created a colorful photo \"menu\" for kids to choose from. That was laminated and put up in our 'calm down corner', as well as she and I both carried one with us. This is the type of tool that in the past I likely would have had to recreate several times, or copied in black and white. But now, students are drawn to the shapes and colors and are excited to try using the different strategies!\r\n\r\nI also created several independent activities for students to work on together. I can use these for many years, thanks to you!\r\n\r\nTeaching can be an unforgiving and sometimes lonely profession. Your contribution has made a remarkable impact on our students' learning experience, and I am thrilled to share how it has been helping us succeed in our mission to create a dynamic and engaging environment for our students.\r\n\r\nOne of the key items that has truly transformed our classroom is the equipment cart and bags. Before receiving these resources, organizing and maintaining our sports equipment was a constant challenge. Items would get misplaced or damaged because there wasn't an efficient way to store them properly. However, with the new cart and bags, we can now easily store and transport all our equipment in one place, keeping everything organized and in top condition. Not only has this improved the overall organization of our classroom, but it has also helped prolong the life of our equipment. We can confidently take care of our materials, ensuring they are always ready for use during lessons and activities.\r\n\r\nThe equipment cart and bags have also made it easier for our students to get involved. The cart is mobile, so it allows us to quickly set up for a variety of activities. This efficiency has saved us valuable time, allowing us to focus more on teaching rather than logistics. The bags are durable and spacious, making it easier to store a wide range of equipment, from shuttlecocks to badminton rackets. As a result, we've been able to foster a sense of responsibility in our students, who now take ownership of the equipment and understand the importance of caring for shared resources.\r\n\r\nAnother standout addition to our classroom has been the multi-use net. This versatile piece of equipment has been an absolute game-changer for our physical education classes. The net is easy to set up, which has made it incredibly convenient for us to switch between different activities quickly. The students especially love how simple it is to assemble, which gives them more time to participate in physical activities rather than waiting for lengthy setup times. The net's versatility has allowed us to expand the range of sports and games we offer, but the most popular by far has been badminton.\r\n\r\nBadminton has quickly become a favorite among the students. They are excited to play and are thoroughly enjoying the sport, developing not only their physical skills but also their teamwork, strategy, and communication abilities. The net's easy setup means that we can now hold badminton matches with ease, allowing all students to get involved, regardless of their skill level. It has been so rewarding to watch them collaborate, learn, and cheer each other on during these games. Some students who were initially shy or hesitant have become much more confident in their abilities, and their enthusiasm for physical activity has skyrocketed.\r\n\r\nThe success of our badminton lessons has been a testament to how essential the right equipment is for encouraging student participation and enjoyment. The new net, paired with the equipment cart, has made these lessons smoother and more enjoyable for everyone involved. The ease of use has opened the door for more spontaneous and diverse activities, giving the students opportunities to try new things, stay active, and build important life skills.\r\n\r\nI cannot thank you enough for your thoughtful donation, which has directly contributed to the improvement of our students' physical education experience. Your generosity has not only provided us with the tools needed to keep equipment in working order but has also created an environment where students are excited to learn, grow, and challenge themselves. The equipment cart, bags, and multi-use net have had an invaluable impact, and I look forward to continuing to see how they benefit our classroom for years to come.\r\n\r\nThank you once again for your support. You are making a real difference in the lives of our students, and we are truly grateful for your kindness.","fullyFundedDate":1738086328335,"projectUrl":"project/organization-will-help-keep-our-equipmen/9083314/","projectTitle":"Organization Will Help Keep Our Equipment in Working Condition!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Katherine","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2593262"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_59367","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":450,"numTeachers":25,"percentFrplEligible":29,"percentAsian":17,"percentBlack":10,"percentWhite":43,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":8,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"1 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"18.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":85.4,"schoolId":59367,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Tops K-8 School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Tops K-8 School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/district-one-seattle-public-schools/tops-at-seward-alternative-school/59367"}
