Creativity Corner for Social Studies

My Students

My students are in the Philadelphia School District and I teach Geography as well as American History. I would like to continue to reach my students through their interest in history and I want to do so with a hands-on project.

I want my students to have space to make hands on history art projects so that it reinforces their learning experience and gives a tangible focus for the lessons.

Through these reflective and hands-on projects, I hope to make American history geographical education more tangible for my PBL students.

Students always learn better when they can relate to the subject and have something tangible to see and to do. Crafts, Art, and Quilting are directly related and tangible to Historical Studies. I hope to use art quilts to achieve a superior and interactive experience for my students.

My Project

Help me give my students a creativity corner!

Students will be able to spend a few minutes to create an art or craft project related to our historical studies.

Projects can be created learning to weave, water color paint, use pastels, or even draw on erasable white boards.

Each student will have the opportunity to spend a few minutes of their day being creative to improve learning social studies. Being creative with art can improve your mood and also enhance your learning experience. I hope to achieve this experience for my classroom with your help.
