Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Art is always a time that students look forward to. It is a time that allows students to express their creativity, lessen their affective filter, and have fun. Thinking about how much joy is evident during art time, incorporating art into writing is just what my first graders need.
Our little ones can express themselves during playtime when actively socializing with one another.
Still, when writing their experiences, their minds often shut down when holding that pencil. One way to support our students during writing is to use art. Students can choose to use Play-Doh, clay, colored pencils, or markers to build their stories, providing a scaffold before writing the words. I am asking for these art supplies to provide materials for my class to use to support them as writers.
