Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The claw machine, treats, dry-erase boards, and other items requested for this project are intended to serve as both resources and reinforcers for my Resource ELA students. The end-of-year goal for my students is they enhance their reading and writing skills, which will be evidenced through their final projects: writing and illustrating their own books. I have requested materials that will be used to practice reading fluency, as well as motivate students to read, such as activity books, timers, and a Kindle. Items such as blank canvas books and colorful pens will be distributed to students for their final projects. I hope that these items will not only enhance my students' interest in literature and writing but also reward their efforts.
My goal for this project is that students gain a greater interest in literature and writing.
I would love for my students to end the school year with a sense of accomplishment and pride as they achieve higher reading fluency levels and strengthen their writing skills. I am confident that completing this project will be a unique experience for many.
Being that my students require extra support, I am so excited to provide them with this opportunity. The majority of my students have individualized education plans that address their unique needs, such as their deficits in Reading Comprehension and Written Expression. For many of my students, reading and writing are not preferred activities; more so, such tasks are perceived as aversive and often avoided. I want to change that perception and help them gain the confidence they otherwise lack, for them to eagerly engage in reading and writing tasks in school and at home.
